About My Clients
When working with individual clients, I help them process painful past experiences by uncovering and experiencing difficult emotions, as well as identify and work through adaptations built over the years to manage distress. Over time and with my support, you will develop new coping skills, restore your ability to trust, and be more comfortable feeling your own emotions and more capable of bringing them to those around you.
My Background and Approach
I have 12 years of clinical experience in outpatient therapy and crisis intervention. I hold a masters degree in Counseling Psychology. I use an Attachment and Experiential approach and I am trained in Internal Family Systems (IFS), Accelerated, Experiential Dynamic Psychotherapy (AEDP), and Attachment Core Pattern Therapy (ACPT). When working with clients, I take a historical approach that will help you discover how your own childhood experiences influence how you currently relate as a spouse and as a parent. In other words: I believe each spouseās childhood history is important to explore because it shapes the way they currently view relationships. By looking through the lens of attachment I will help a couple discover the roots of their repetitive fights or frustrating core patterns.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
I come from a Hispanic, Caucasian, Christian heritage and was adopted in grade school. I believe in the healing and transformation that can be gleaned from psychotherapy. As a young adult, I realized I needed to heal some childhood wounds-adaptations and began my own journey of therapy. I continue to do my own inner work to heal and discover defenses that influence my thoughts, feelings, decisions, and behaviors. I believe that therapy is a profound way to heal trauma, anxiety, stress, depression, interpersonal issues and relational distress and discover your true authentic self. I have also been a Crisis Clinician for the last 4 years helping those in crisis who utilize the Colorado State Crisis Hotline and I see the value and immense need for this type of intervention.
