About My Clients
My clients are teens, young adults, and adults who feel overwhelmed, stuck, or uncertain about their next steps. They may be struggling with anxiety, depression, relationship challenges, life transitions, or a sense of not quite fitting in. Many are trying to better understand themselves, navigate difficult emotions, and build more meaningful, fulfilling lives
My Background and Approach
I'm Nikki Townsend, a Licensed Clinical Social Worker providing therapy to clients throughout New Jersey. I completed my EMDR training through an EMDRIA-approved program because I wanted to offer trauma-focused care that goes beyond traditional talk therapy. Over the past five years, I've worked in schools helping kids navigate peer relationships and family stress, in private practice supporting adults through anxiety and life transitions, and in correctional settings where I learned that everyone deserves compassion regardless of their circumstances. Those diverse experiences taught me to meet people where they are without assumptions about what they need or how they should heal.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
I believe therapy should feel safe, supportive, and real — not intimidating or clinical. My role is to help you better understand yourself, heal from past experiences, and build coping strategies that allow you to feel more grounded and confident in your day-to-day life. I take a collaborative approach to therapy, meaning we work together to explore patterns, emotions, and experiences that may be keeping you stuck. I strive to create a space where you can show up exactly as you are — even if you’re not sure where to start.
