About My Clients
My clients hold intersectional identities and are insightful and willing to acknowledge their challenges and strengths. I provide them with an affirming space to be their authentic selves. They are then able to advocate for themselves and voice their needs. We explore systemic injustices and how they impact our lives. I begin with a multicultural feminist theory approach. My clinical identity lies in supporting people who are looking for culturally sensitive and gender-affirming therapy
My Background and Approach
I begin with a multicultural feminist theory approach. Because every client is unique I use an eclectic approach to therapy, drawing from relational-cultural theory, cognitive behavior therapy, feminist theory, humanistic theory, internal family systems therapy, and narrative therapy when beneficial. A trauma-informed, client-centered and strength-based approach is central to my work.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
With me, therapy can be a transformative experience. I hold a secure environment for my clients to discuss challenges with their sexuality, kink, and non-monogamy. I draw on my own first hand knowledge of navigating kink/sex-positive environments. I support clients in building sexual self-esteem, navigating sexual liberation, and processing sexual trauma. Given the tragic impacts of the pandemic and the BLM Movement, I have compassion for clients who are beginning therapy for the first time. I acknowledge that communities of color are cautious of the mental healthcare system due to stigma. As a person of color myself, I work hard to establish and maintain a safe environment for communities of color.
