Commonly called ACT, the description is quite appropriate for this action oriented therapy. In this treatment we help you to clarify personal values, the compass with which you live your life, to take meaningful action. We focus on the values that make you feel truly yourself. This therapy is behavioral and goal directed, like CBT, but it teaches a mindfulness and observer based approach to thinking patterns. This therapy treats a wide range of issues

This approach helps clients identify the connection between core belief systems developed in childhood and how these play out in thinking patterns, behaviors, and emotional responses in present day. This therapy focuses on re-working actions and negative automatic thoughts to change negative beliefs about the self, world, and others. It is effective for wide range of concerns including depression, anxiety, sleep disturbance/ insomnia, trauma histories, panic, social phobia etc.

I use careful assessment and over 10 years of clinical experience to help you choose an evidence based model or combination of skills that is right for you. Some clients prefer to stick with a protocol because they enjoy clear structure, organization and a plan. Other clients prefer to pick and choose skills within each model to offer more curation. Both are effective. I will offer you a menu of options which includes cognitive processing therapy, PE, and contextual trauma skills

I have over 10 years of clinical experience within private hospital systems, community psychological centers, veteran's affairs, and private practice treating anxiety conditions. I have specialty training in CBT, ACT, emotion focused therapy, and mindfulness skills. I offer treatment for generalized anxiety, perfectionism, panic attacks, social phobias, specific phobias and health related anxieties. During the pandemic I worked alongside my medical colleagues in overburdened hospital systems. I am acutely aware that healthcare providers, high achievers, caregivers and front line staff are exposed to vicarious trauma on a daily basis. Many of us feel more than simply burned out – we are experiencing moral injury. We feel listless, numb, disengaged, and drained. I understand the isolation of this experience and have both lived the experience and trained in skills to help.

I have a specialty area in the overlap between chronic childhood maltreatment and adulthood trauma as well as vicarious trauma and moral injury. This creates something known as complex trauma. During my practice I have treated hundreds of clients with these concerns including issues related to emotional abuse and emotional neglect. Clients often tell me that they have gone to therapy before and simply never feel like they have tackled the root of their problem. Consider trauma informed care!
