About My Clients
Have you been thinking of starting therapy for quite sometime but have been nervous to take that step? Let me help you understand the beauty of therapy and how it works. I practice from a Cognitive Behavioral therapy approach which allows us to restructure the way that we think, which then influences how we feel and how we respond. My particular interests are in treating diverse individuals aged 13+ with anxiety, depression, life changes, relationship issues, maladaptive thinking, and trauma.
My Background and Approach
During our time together, you will learn effective coping skills, understand yourself and the world around you through a healthier lens, reframe maladaptive thinking, and overall feel more confident with yourself as we embark on this journey together. I monitor progress by a reduction in symptoms. I have helped numerous people from diverse populations feel like their most congruent self and they learn how to access their full potential. While therapy can be tough at times, we will also laugh together and have a strong therapeutic alliance where you feel safe. I practice cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) and hold a primary certification in rational emotive behavior therapy (REBT) from the Albert Ellis Institute. I've earned my M.S. in mental health counseling from Queens College, and my B.A. in Psychology from Adelphi University.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
Everyone has a fundamental right to access their best versions of themselves. With our society being so fast paced, at times we forget how much our mental health needs attention. I call therapy your "selfish time", because it is time that is solely focused on you, that most of us do not get on a daily basis. When we dedicate time to work on ourselves, the possibilities are endless. No matter how you identify, what your beliefs are, your race, you will have a safe and welcoming place in therapy with me.
