About My Clients

My clients are ready to finally take time to process traumatic memories from childhood trauma. They have been strong for many years but are finding that their hypervigilance and ways of interacting or protecting themselves are no longer working or are no longer necessary in their new environment. My clients are also folks with ADHD who are wanting to eliminate shame associated with executive function impairments. My clients also are wanting support to move through a depressive episode safely.

My Background and Approach

My background in social work and human services goes back to 2012 and includes the following: -case manager and program coordinator for many nonprofits providing direct care for individuals who were experiencing poverty, disabilities, addiction, mental illness, and homelessness. -child protective services caseworker. -social worker for an attorney representing parents with open child welfare cases. -senior therapist on an assertive community treatment team providing care for adults with severe and persistent mental illness. My approach is caring, directive, solution-focused, from a feminist and systems and multicultural lens.

My Personal Beliefs and Interests

I am actively learning how to make my practice as neurodivergent-affirming as possible. I identify as neurodivergent (auDHD) and that has been a huge part of my lived experience. One of my favorite things to do to support folks with ADHD is to provide some education on what the executive functions are, have my clients describe and identify how those executive functions and dysfunctions show up in their lives, understand how the executive dysfunctions interplay with one another, and create a plan that keeps executive dysfunctions in mind. I have found in my life and in the lives of many of my clients with ADHD that mood greatly impacts one's motivation and energy level to manage the executive dysfunctions. So for example, if someone is really depressed, they may be a lot less likely to work on things like organization and planning for employment, school, health, bills, civil responsibilities, etc.
