About My Clients
I have treated clients from age 6 to 75 and enjoy walking with clients in all stages of life. However I most enjoy working with young adults, older teens, and clients who are military, veterans, or military family members. I focus on the aspect of self-care with all clients because it is an essential part of treating the whole client and managing issues such as depression, anxiety, stress, grief, relationship issues, work issues, and other common issues.
My Background and Approach
I have Military Culture and Military Families specialization. It is my desire to give back to those who serve or have served our country. I I have experience working with young adults completing their high school education in their early 20s due to substance abuse, young parenthood, gang affiliation, incarceration, foster care, domestic violence, poverty, anxiety, depression, relationship issues, or difficulty with anger, grief and crisis. I also have a special place in her heart for women and couples struggling with infertility, and couples considering adoption. I have experience integrating faith into the counseling process and believe there are many benefits to the integration of faith and psychotherapy. Using an eclectic approach, I provide a safe, nonjudgmental space and an empathetic presence where clients can talk about whatever is hindering them from living their best life. Together we explore and discover what each client’s unique needs are to be the person they want to be.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
I believe my own life experiences and knowledge can be beneficial to fostering a healthy therapeutic relationship built on understanding and trust. I value providing a safe environment where each person feels respected, accepted and understood. I also value helping others learn to take care of themselves emotionally, physically, spiritually and socially. My passion is to help individuals, couples and families find peace, healing and self-acceptance. I believe integrating faith and counseling can strengthen the healing process; however, I understands and respects that this is a personal choice made by each person I work with. I strongly value the therapeutic bond between humans and animals and hope to be able to offer Animal Assisted Therapy Interventions in the near future.
