About My Clients
I have worked with a variety of clients reporting different concerns such as depression, anxiety, mood instability, life changes, and parenting difficulties, but I specialize in ADHD, autism and trauma. I have a Masters in Counseling with ABA, as well as a Master's certificate in Play Therapy. I am all but dissertation toward a PhD in Developmental Psychology. My internship was specified toward helping children, teens, and adults heal from trauma/PTSD.
My Background and Approach
I am trained in a couple different evidence-based trauma treatment modalities, Trauma-focused cognitive behavior therapy (TF-CBT) and Cognitive processing therapy (CPT). Both treatment modalities focus on understanding the connection between our thoughts, feelings and behaviors and processing negative events through talk, structured sessions and learning to change negative thinking patterns. TF-CBT and CPT are considered two of the most effective ways to heal and process traumatic events. It is never too late to heal, even if it has been years. Many therapists don't have training or experience in helping neurodiverse clients throughout the therapeutic process. Whether working on emotional dysfunction, time and organization skills, behavior or academic difficulties, through a therapeutic environment I help clients to understand their neurodiversity and implement different techniques to improve mood and achieve their goals.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
I am the definition of a bleeding heart. I care. About everything. I practice the same coping skills and stress relief I talk about. I care about what is going on in the world, I worry about the next generation and about life. And I'm always here for my clients to talk about that. Any of that and more. You aren’t alone. We are also allowed to recognize that things are not ok in the world and we need to talk about it. I also firmly belief that life makes us uncomfortable when it is time for change... we have a choice, what’s yours?
