About My Clients
You’re the one everyone depends on. You remember, anticipate, manage, and hold things together—and you’re exhausted. You may feel responsible for everyone’s emotions, struggle to relax when things are unfinished, say yes when you want to say no, or wonder why motherhood feels harder than you expected. I work with women and moms navigating anxiety, burnout, people-pleasing, fawning, over-functioning, and self-abandonment who want to feel like themselves again.
My Background and Approach
I’m Nicole Byrne, a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist based in Pasadena, offering in-person therapy in Pasadena and online therapy throughout California and Nevada. I specialize in working with women experiencing anxiety, burnout, people-pleasing, fawning, chronic over-functioning, and patterns of self-abandonment. My approach is warm, curious, and active. Together, we look beyond the symptoms to understand why these patterns developed and what keeps pulling you away from yourself. I use Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), EMDR, the Flash Technique, and trauma-informed approaches to help you build self-trust, make room for your own needs, set boundaries with less guilt, and create a life that feels more like yours. Therapy with me isn’t about becoming a different person. It’s about reconnecting with yourself while learning that caring deeply for other people doesn’t have to require abandoning you.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
I believe in the village—the one we were never meant to raise children without and the one so many women are trying to build from scratch. I care deeply about community, meaningful relationships, and creating lives that leave room for connection, rest, play, and meaning—not just productivity. I believe many women have been taught to measure their worth by how much they can carry, how helpful they can be, and how little they need from anyone else. My work is grounded in a different belief: caring for other people and caring for yourself can exist together. You matter. And I matter too. I also believe healing happens in relationship, not outside of it. We need people. We need support. And needing either is part of being human.
