About My Clients
My special interests are gender and sexuality exploration, relationship issues, religious trauma, anger, anxiety, and substance use. I enjoy working with clients who are navigating challenging dynamics, including with their family of origin, or who are experiencing phase-of-life concerns. For example, I love working with clients who are committed to breaking generational patterns as well as clients who are establishing healthier, happier relationships.
My Background and Approach
I work from an experiential, humanistic approach, and my foundational belief is that my clients are the experts of their own lives. My therapeutic style is an amalgamation of Emotionally Focused Therapy, Internal Family Systems parts work, attachment theory, and the mind-body connection, which I explore with clients using a Window of Tolerance nervous system regulation framework. In my work with partners, I also integrate the Gottman Method. Additionally, I offer Brainspotting and Havening Techniques, which are techniques that use the mind-body connection to help folks process and release trauma. These techniques are a great addition to talk therapy and can be especially useful for folks who are internal processors.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
I believe that everyone deserves care, respect, and support. I am a member of the LGBTQIA+ community and advocate for folks of all gender identities and sexualities. I am sex-positive and kink informed, and I see the world through a Health at Every Size (HAES) lens. I am passionate about literature, equity, bodily autonomy, and mental health care. Fun fact: Before I was a therapist, I worked in New Age book publishing, so I have working knowledge of most New Age practices. When I'm not in the office, I am usually at the library, taking a nap, or spending time with my cats.
