About My Clients
I love working with young adults in the LGBTQ+ community, neurodivergent folks, and survivors of sexual violence. My approach is trauma-informed, affirming, and warm.
My Background and Approach
My Bachelor's Degree is in Gender & Sexuality Studies, and I have a Master's in Social Work from Columbia University in New York City. I have worked in homeless shelters, hospitals, schools, and community mental health centers. I am trained in EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization & Reprocessing), DBT (Dialectical Behavior Therapy), CBT (Cognitive Behavior Therapy), PE (Prolonged Exposure), and Mindfulness. I am also certified in Reiki and Trauma-Informed Yoga. Above all, I believe in the importance and power of kindness, and my main goal is for clients to feel seen, heard, and a sense of belonging. "The human in me sees the human in you." We are a team and we do this work together! If you ever feel like your emotions are so intense that it's like they're "driving the car" and you're just holding on, we can work together on practical skills to make you your own driver. Developing solid emotion regulation skills is crucial before diving deep into intensive trauma therapy!
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
I believe wholeheartedly that each one of us possesses an inherent capacity to heal, grow, and reclaim our sense of self, no matter how deep pain may run. Trauma may influence our story AND it does not define us. Providing meaningful care means recognizing the personal, cultural, systemic, and historical factors of trauma. I believe in holding hope when clients cannot, offering it gently and not as pressure, but as a shared belief in everyone's inherent worth and resilience. My role is not to "fix" clients, but to walk beside them, offering tools, perspective, and a safe space for insights to emerge. Being a trauma therapist requires ongoing reflection, learning, and self-care. My ability to be present with others depends on how well I attend to my own humanity. Outside work, I love skiing, reading, yoga, paddleboarding, fashion, and horror movies!
