About My Clients
The people I work with tend to ask the more difficult and challenging questions. These are big existential questions about what is purposeful and valuable, but also those important questions about choices to make with friends, family, careers, etc. I believe we have the answers to those questions already, we just need to figure out what is holding us back. So, the styles of therapy that I tend to utilize are ones where we build trust, compassion, and curiosity in ourselves.
My Background and Approach
I have my Masters degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling with a Professional Concentration. I also have a background in Applied Behavior Analytics. I also have my Certification as a Clinical Trauma Professional, level 2, and I have been trained in EMDR by Kase & Co. The therapeutic orientations that I prefer are Internal Family Systems, Psychodynamics, Narrative Therapy, and Person Centered. Typically in my sessions, I like to listen intentionally to try to find how your subconscious self is expressing itself in emotions, language, and behavior. Then, we try to figure out the function, and what systems they exist in. What I've noticed is the revelation of those internal systems alone is enough to create motivation to change, but if there is something blocking you from change, we will analyze that as well. My ultimate goal is to help you learn how to do the therapeutic work for yourself so that you will gain a new sense of clarity and understanding of who you are at your core.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
I personally believe that every single person alive today has inherent worth, meaning, value, and purpose. I believe that everyone is one their own life journey, and that we can find bridges that connect us no matter what. Our perspective that we have about ourselves and others can create so much positivity and change the world.
