About My Clients
Whether you are an individual seeking support with relationship or career issues or a parent searching for ways to more effectively manage the challenging behaviors of your son or daughter my practice is available to meet your needs. For more than 20 years I have worked with individuals, adolescents and families in various capacities to address a myriad of behavioral, relationship and substance abuse issues.
My Background and Approach
I received my B.A. in psychology from James Madison University in Virginia and my M.S. in Counselor Education-Clinical Mental Health Counseling Track, from Florida International University. I spent over 15 years working with youth and families in the Juvenile Justice Systems in Virginia and Florida before entering into private practice. During that time, I occupied positions in both residential and outpatient settings including serving as a clinical supervisor to multiple teams of therapists operating in Miami-Dade and Broward county. The maladaptive patterns of thinking and behaving that we frequently fall victim to can be shaped and through the development of new skills a new path can be forged to help you achieve a more balanced and healthy state. I use a systems oriented approach in tandem with cognitive-behavioral techniques to support individuals navigating a myriad of symptoms including anxiety and depression.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
I believe that navigating life's most challenging circumstances can be done successfully with the right type of therapeutic support. Therapy is work but within the context of a quality professional relationship you are capable of overcoming even the most dire and problematic scenarios and coming out more resilient to handle future challenges. You have already taken the first step.
