About My Clients
I enjoy working with queer and/or Latinx clients who have struggled to find a sense of belonging within their communities. You may be feeling burnt out from societal and familial pressures, want to explore other neglected identities, or be undergoing a major life transition. Our work together will be exploring who you are in relation to self, your loved ones, and the world around you and finding sustainable practices rooted in compassion, freedom and joy.
My Background and Approach
I am a licensed social worker with prior experience as a psychotherapist providing affirming care to the LGBTQIA+ community. In that practice, I utilized a strengths-based, psychodynamic approach with a cultural and trauma-informed lens. I made a shift in my career working with older adults for the past 3 years where I learned and expanded my expertise in the field of aging, and have offered supportive counseling and case assistance services around areas of chronic illness, social isolation, and grief and loss. I am now taking all that I have learned in my professional experience and combining it with 20+ years of lived experience to better serve the communities I am a part of.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
I am a cisgender, white-assumed, gay Colombiano who immigrated here at a young age. My experiences with navigating all of my intersectional identities growing up dictated my passion for this line of work. I am passionate about co-creating a space in therapy that is empathic, and gives space to experience all of the feelings that makes us human. In my free time I enjoy resting! That includes gaming, binging shows, spending quality time with my partner, seeing friends, going out on walks and napping in the middle of the work day. We are all navigating this crazy, oftentimes dystopic world together and are in a continuous process of learning and growth.
