About My Clients
The folks I feel most aligned to work with are those ready to dig deep. You might be scared but you show up anyway. Clients that come to session prepared with topics to process tend to get the most out of therapy with me. I enjoy working with my queer and trans community. Clients navigating substance use, or early recovery, binge eating, or restrictive eating disorders, trauma, people pleasing, and perfectionism are where I feel most useful.
My Background and Approach
I use a non-directive and process focused framework. Think of our sessions as if we are on a big road trip together. You are the driver and I am the navigator. We might take side trips that are shorter or longer and sometimes we might change the plans altogether. While I might have a greater sense of where we are going because of my training in mental health, you are the one who is in the drivers seat. It's my responsibility to help you see what might around the corner. Making this a highly collaborative process.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
As a Fat, Queer, Non-Binary clinician, I know the power that lived experience can bring to a session. I believe you are more than a diagnosis, body size, or who you love. I treat each client as an individual with a rich history of stories to share. As a white Social Worker I hold space for the harm Social Work has caused to the global majority. I work to not only name but dismantle these ideas in my practice.
