Resilient families aren't families without stress but families that understand how to communicate effectively and navigate change. I have many years of experience, in school and community settings, helping families to increase positive communication, increase healthy boundaries, and become a cohesive and supportive unit.
The process of bereavement is different for everyone but so often the people around us expect for grief to be uniform, quick and tidy. I work with individuals and families who have been impacted by the loss of a loved one to find there own way through tragedy. I do not promise resolution or peace but I can promise warmth and compassion as you find your way.
As a personal caregiver and mental health clinician I have a personal and professional understanding about the challenges of family caregiving. Most family caregivers lack the support necessary to thrive in their caregiving role. Many caregivers report being completely unprepared for their new responsibility which can lead to mental and physical health issues for the caregiver. I teach coping and self care tools as well validate your unique experiences.
I have over 7 years of experience working in addiction recovery as a drug and alcohol counselor, therapist and Project Director for a 200 bed residential recovery treatment center.
