About My Clients
Are you considering ending your relationship because you are tired of arguing or simply co-existing? Does it feel like every cell in your body is overwhelmed, exhausted, or tense? Are you struggling with letting go of the traumatic event that continues to haunt you? I have extensive experience working with adults, teens, and couples who struggle with relationship problems, mood disorders, and trauma. I also offer Christian counseling.
My Background and Approach
I use a variety of techniques to provide you with the insight and tools to allow you to feel more connected in relationships and at peace with yourself. Specifically, I use DBT, CBT, and EMDR with individuals. With couples, I use The Gottman Method. Research studies show these methods work to reduce suffering, improve emotional wellness, and heal relationships. I obtained my Masters Degree in Clinical Counseling Psychology at Illinois State University. While attending graduate school, I supervised graduate students leading a Dialectical Behavior Therapy Skills Groups. I also studied spiritual formation at Lincoln University. I provided community mental health services in DeWitt County and Macon County. I also volunteered for the suicide hotline and a community center for children living in poverty. In addition to my practice in Washington, IL., I am currently employed at Logan Correctional Center where I provide counseling and crisis services.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
I knew at a young age that I wanted to spend my life helping people overcome difficult situations and mental health problems. I am passionate about helping people identify their problems so they can discover the calm and happiness they deserve. I have had the privilege of witnessing individuals and couples grow from a place of despair to a place of connection and peace. I believe everyone is capable of growth, but not everyone has been taught the skills needed to grow.
