About My Clients
My ideal client is a child, teen, or adult who feels stuck and wants practical help moving forward. You may be struggling with anxiety, OCD, trauma, depression, life transitions, or difficult thoughts and emotions. You don’t need to have everything figured out—just a willingness to try something different. I work best with clients who want therapy to be collaborative, active, and focused on meaningful changes that get them closer to the type of person that they want to be.
My Background and Approach
I’m a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) in Virginia with over a 15 years of experience helping children, teens, and adults navigate mental health challenges. I specialize in anxiety, OCD, trauma, depression, and the unique challenges facing children and adolescents. My approach is practical, collaborative, and grounded in evidence-based treatment, including Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Exposure and Response Prevention (ERP), EMDR, and Trauma-Focused CBT (TF-CBT). I believe therapy should feel approachable and genuinely useful—not overly clinical. Sessions focus on understanding what is keeping you stuck, developing practical skills, and making meaningful changes that align with the life you want to live. I also offer walk-and-talk therapy for clients who prefer getting outside and find it easier to connect and process while moving.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
I’m a strong believer that living a fulfilling life often means facing difficult situations and being willing to embrace discomfort. I support my clients through these challenges, help them develop new skills, and understand why the discomfort may be worth it in pursuit of something that matters to them. I try to embrace this philosophy in my own life and have found marathons and Ironman races to be a great way to push my own boundaries. I’m passionate about my work and truly value the privilege of creating a space where clients can be vulnerable and move toward the life they want to lead. I also believe humor has a place in therapy and will absolutely join you in all the laughs—and tears—that life can bring. I hope my walk-and-talk sessions make therapy more approachable, particularly for people who might otherwise avoid it. I aim to be flexible with locations, weather, and activities—whatever helps you fully engage and find value in our time together.
