In short, I seek to help you understand your teenager and their behavior better. As you may remember, adolescence can be a tumultuous stage of life. What the research has helped us understand more now than ever, is how the adolescent brain is also particularly vulnerable to life’s stressors. During parent coaching sessions we will discuss relevant child development and behavioral concerns, your child’s overall progress, and strategies you can implement at home in order to support their progress.

I have been a school psychologist for nearly a decade, working with youth who present with significant social-emotional needs and varying diagnoses, such as: relational stress, family conflict, trauma, ADHD, Oppositional Defiant Disorder, Autism, and various anxiety, attachment, and mood disorders.

I often use Narrative Therapy in my practice. Narratives are not just the stories that we tell ourselves in order to create meaning in our lives; they also influence how we define ourselves and the choices we make. A narrative therapist is a collaborator, helping clients first separate themselves from their problem, then working with them to co-create a new narrative aligned with their values.

In my work with families experiencing relational conflict, my clients find that employing an approach rooted in attachment theory allows me to help them learn about the communication patterns within the family unit. Through this work, members of the family typically report that they understand where their own communication patterns come from, how their family system operates as a whole, and their role in improving communication within that system.
