About My Clients
As a neurodivergent (and LGBTQIA) individual myself, part of my goal in providing therapy is helping people to feel heard as their most authentic selves (which sometimes involves describing their frustrations in relation to their favorite sport, video game, or anime). I take the time to understand your unique journey through life while offering clinical insight and perspective in a way that is approachable, engaging, and non-judgmental.
My Background and Approach
My therapeutic foundation rests on my certification in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), providing practical tools to restructure unhelpful thoughts and behaviors. While CBT is excellent for building concrete coping skills, my approach is heavily guided by ongoing training in Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT)—a modality deeply aligned with my philosophy of growth. If CBT works to change what you think, ACT focuses on changing your relationship to those thoughts. Instead of fighting difficult emotions, I use ACT to help you build psychological flexibility. We work to unhook from painful narratives, making space for your experiences without letting them dictate your choices. We will identify your core values to use as a compass forward. Blending CBT with my passion for ACT offers a balanced experience: concrete tools to challenge negative self-talk, wrapped in a values-driven focus empowering you to live a truly meaningful life.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
My journey as a therapist is deeply rooted in my own experiences of self-discovery, which unfolded much later in life than I expected. For years, I carried a heavy burden of anxiety and shame, internalizing the belief that my struggles with focus were simply character flaws or "laziness." Receiving an ADHD diagnosis as an adult was a profound turning point that shattered those painful narratives and completely reshaped how I view myself and hold space for others. Alongside this, discovering and embracing my sexual orientation later in life reinforced my understanding that unearthing your authentic self is rarely a linear process. These dual revelations form the heartbeat of my practice. I know firsthand the weight of carrying guilt for not fitting into expected boxes. I believe therapy is a collaborative space to unlearn that shame and cultivate a deep sense of comfort in your own skin. Using compassion and understanding, my goal is to help you unapologetically embrace you as you.
