About My Clients
Are you struggling with any of the following? Navigating a stressful life transition, such as: relationship changes, loss of a loved one, life post-grad, faith transitions, or exploring your sexuality and/or gender identity. Challenging family relationships, including needing support with communication and setting boundaries. The ongoing impact of a difficult or traumatic experience (or experiences) on yourself, your daily life, and your relationships.
My Background and Approach
I have extensive experience working with people struggling with life transitions, challenging family relationships, and trauma. My approach to therapy involves a combination of supporting you in feeling and processing emotions, gaining insight into yourself, and learning/implementing new strategies for handling challenging situations. I incorporate a variety of therapeutic techniques depending on what is a best fit for your individual situation, goals, and personality. I am also trained in EMDR as a treatment for trauma and incorporate this if it is something you are interested in. I see you and I as partners in this process. You bring your unique perspective, strengths, and an openness to the therapeutic process. I bring my clinical training, expertise, and 10+ years of experience. Together we can work to help you feel more fulfilled and at peace in your life and relationships.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
In therapy and in life I view things from a systems-perspective, recognizing that the systems in our life (family, community, culture, society, government, etc.) have profound impacts on us. I recognize the systemic barriers that exist; especially for people of color, the LGBTQ community, women, people with disabilities, and people without financial privilege. I recognize that, while therapy can be incredible, individual work does not fix these systemic issues. For that reason, I am involved in advocating for systemic change outside of my therapy practice by volunteering, donating, and participating in protests and actions. I have undergone anti-racist training and strive to embody anti-racist ideals in my practice as well as in my personal life. I am an LGTBQ affirming practice and have extensive experience working with trans and non-binary clients. It is important to me to create a therapeutic environment where everyone feels seen, understood, and valued for who they are.
