About My Clients
If you've ever been in a place where life feels extremely overwhelming and it seems like handling it alone is impossible, or that you'll feel judged by sharing with friends, family, or others, you've come to the right place! And kudos to you for seeking therapy! In our work together, I want to empower you to know that while your experience may be unique in some ways, you are certainly not alone!
My Background and Approach
I began my journey in Counseling with a Bachelor’s in Psychology and a Master's in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Marist College. During my studies, I developed a deep understanding of the human mind and the factors that contribute to mental health challenges. I was particularly drawn to the idea of providing support and guidance to those in need. Over the past few years, I've gained valuable experience working with individuals from diverse backgrounds and dealing with a wide range of mental health issues related to anxiety, depression, trauma, relationship issues, and difficulties with new life transitions, etc. While I believe that there is no one-size-fits-all approach to treatment, I draw largely on therapeutic interventions from Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Dialectical Behavioral Therapy, and Person-Centered Therapy to empower my clients and collaborate on setting achievable goals to overcome obstacles.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
I believe in maintaining an empathetic relationship with my clients to understand their circumstances on a deeper level, help them to navigate their challenges and work toward healing and personal growth. In my therapeutic practice, it’s important to me that I create a safe and non-judgmental space allowing clients to share openly and honestly. As a therapist of color, I want to ensure that client's from marginalized communities have a space to process micro-aggressions, stereotypes and other everyday issues that they might experience.
