About My Clients
You're here because you desperately need something to change in your life. Life feels so overwhelming and some days you don't even want to get out of bed in the morning. You're tired of being tired, and feeling hopeless about life . You need help, but want a therapist who will truly understand you and see you, and I'm here to help.
My Background and Approach
Healing and transformation can happen within relationships and communities. Within relationships, we gain insight about ourselves and heal relational wounds. As a therapist, our relationship will be the vehicle that drives you towards being the person you want to be and living the life you want to live. I want to help you tap into the power and skills that you already have that may have been buried under layers of trauma, pain, and feelings of hopelessness. I work from an integrated lens of Person-Centered Theory, Relational Cultural Theory, and Feminist Theory. Through genuineness and a strong therapeutic relationship, we can work together to acknowledge and hold space for all the ways that life is difficult and unfair, and also discover how you can create a sense of joy, beauty, purpose, and connection in your life.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
My therapeutic perspective is highly informed by my lived experience as a fat, black/Latina, queer woman, and I aim to be a safe space for BIPOC, queer/trans/GNC folks, fat people/people in larger bodies, and other marginalized communities. I believe that therapy is a wonderful tool for introspection and reflection, skill building, and healing, but therapy is not enough to help people are dealing with the effects of systemic racism, sexism, heterosexism, cissexism, classism, xenophobia, and other oppressive paradigms. As a therapist, I work to validate my client's feelings of hopelessness and helplessness in the face of oppression, while also helping clients develops tools to create the lives that they want for themselves.
