About My Clients

My work is trauma-informed, culturally responsive and has a strong social justice framework that emphasizes equity, accessibility, and inclusion. I work with individuals and couples/unions from all sociocultural backgrounds, and specialize in therapy for anxiety, trauma (C-PTSD), depression, surviving systemic marginalization/oppression, existential crisis/exploration, self-identity expression, body diversity/eating disorders (HAES), and living with a disability or chronic pain/illness.

My Background and Approach

I graduated from Portland State University with a Masters in Counseling, and have accrued intensive experience working in different clinical settings over the last few years. Being a Southeast Asian-American born and raised in Kenya, I am fluent in English, Gujarati, Hindi, Swahili, and Punjabi. As a therapist, I draw heavily from my own experience as a transnational citizen: believing fully in the interconnected nature of our human experience. My work has a strong social justice orientation that is trauma informed and centers the values of equity, inclusion and accessibility. I strive to create a trusting, non-judgmental, respectful and empowering brave/safe space that fully includes my client’s unique identity intersections, life experiences, strengths/barriers and aspirations. I am a queer, person of color, neurodivergent, kink/poly celebrating, fat/body affirming, disability centering feminist therapist who uses a non-hierarchal, collaborative and individually-tailored approach.

My Personal Beliefs and Interests

I work from a place of cultural humility and an ever-improving understanding of my own intersections of privilege/marginalization. I believe that healing, growth and thriving result from a holistic integration of the mind, body and spirit. As my client, you will be in the driving seat of your therapeutic experience: You will determine the goals we work on, the pace we take, the approaches we adopt, and the outcomes we aspire towards. One of my specializations, as a therapist, is an individually and culturally tailored program for those experiencing the trauma and stressors of living with marginalized identities - as well as those from more dominant/privileged identity backgrounds who want to learn to be better allies to historically marginalized communities. I believe that in today's times it is critical to heal wounds, build bridges, and uplift one another - and focused/intentional therapy is a critical tool to begin/progress on this journey.
