About My Clients
I am a queer and inclusive South Asian therapist who focuses on providing a safe space for marginalized individuals, like the LGBTQIA+ community and BIPOC as a whole. I also work with underserved and low-income communities to bridge the gap in access to quality mental healthcare for those who need it the most. You deserve a therapist who is going to prioritize your needs and goals and meet you where you're at.
My Background and Approach
As a student therapist under supervision, I am focused on meeting clients where they're at to make sure that they are receiving meaningful and helpful care from me. I focus on providing empathy, showing up authentically, and being accepting and understanding for my clients. I also acknowledge the importance of your story and your voice; you are the authority and the expert on your life and your experience. I work with clients to understand and name their emotions, explore their identities, navigate their relationships, and show up authentically in their day-to-day lives. Throughout our sessions, you will gain independence and clarity and be able to show up for yourself through life's challenges.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
As a queer woman of color who was raised by two Pakistani immigrants, I value diversity, community, and advocacy, which is what drew me to counseling in the first place. My own experiences with mental health led to me to seek counseling, which showed me the importance of having a safe, nonjudgmental space to discuss my concerns and feelings, and I knew that was something I wanted to provide for others. Some causes and movements that are of importance to me are queer and trans rights, the rights of immigrants, the abolition of the police system, pro-choice and bodily autonomy, and prevention of violence and abuse toward children, disabled people, and elderly people.
