I integrate mindfulness into everything I do, particularly the concepts of being present in the moment and observing feelings without judging them. For many people, the idea of creating a mindfulness routine or meditation practice seems overwhelming, so I support folks in finding small ways of weaving mindfulness into their daily lives.

I am trained in EMDR and find it to be a powerful tool in treating trauma. Even when not using the bilateral stimulation part of EMDR, I find that I use many of the concepts - identifying and understanding core beliefs, creating strong visual images for safety and ground, and linking body and mind.

I'm experienced with using CBT and tend to interweave it liberally with other approaches. CBT is so useful in helping to change negative thinking patterns, even very entrenched patterns. I love the "ah-ha!" moment when someone uncovers the nearly-subconscious thought that has been impacting their mood and relationships.

Even in individual work, I tend to view most challenges through a relationship- or attachment-based lens. Our personalities and our lives are shaped by our families, friends, and romantic partnerships, and uncovering the hidden dynamics of those relationships can be so powerful. Any surface-level problem in a relationship is linked to a deeper meaning and finding glimpses of that deeper meaning is the real work of therapy.

Almost everyone will experience anxiety at some point in their life. When anxiety becomes overwhelming, though, it can be debilitating and exhausting. I use a mixture of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy and mindfulness-based approaches to understand and change thinking patterns. I teach techniques that use the body to help calm the mind.

Rebuilding self-esteem is the foundation of all of the work that I do with my clients. To do this work, I help folks understand the core beliefs that are unconsciously shaping their feelings about themselves. Once these beliefs have been brought into the light, we can get right to work squashing them! For body image work, I focus on body liberation and acceptance of all body types.
