About My Clients
Mental Health Counselor, honored to support diverse individuals across the lifespan. With 20 years in mental health (12 as a therapist), I specialize in trauma, mood disorders, and life transitions. My practice is a safe, inclusive space for all populations. MAPs welcome and encouraged. I am registered with ASAP International and VirPed.
My Background and Approach
With over two decades of experience in mental health, I began my journey in Alaska over 20 years ago as a case manager, supporting adults with chronic and severe mental illnesses in community settings. In 2012, I earned my Master's in Clinical Psychology and became a licensed therapist in Alaska. I've since returned to my home state of New York and am currently in the process of obtaining my licensure here. My clinical focus centers on trauma and mood disorders, including depression and bipolar disorders. I believe many of life's challenges are rooted in some form of trauma, which is why my approach is always trauma-informed. I primarily utilize evidence-based therapies such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), and Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR). However, I also integrate other therapeutic modalities as needed, tailoring my approach to best suit your unique goals and what you want to work on.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
My practice is built on a deep commitment to equity and empowerment for all, fostering an affirming space where every individual feels seen and valued. I am a passionate champion for LGBTQIA+, kink, and ethically non-monogamous communities, understanding the unique strengths and challenges within these identities. My therapeutic approach is inherently trauma-informed, recognizing how past experiences shape our present, and I deeply value and celebrate neurodiversity in all its forms. I also integrate the profound healing power of mindfulness, meditation, and connection with nature into my work, offering tools for grounding and self-discovery. For clients navigating the profound pain of suicidal thoughts, I provide unwavering non-judgmental support, compassionate safety planning, and active exploration of alternatives to hospitalization, ensuring you feel supported through crisis.
