About My Clients
Do you feel disconnected from yourself or your partner(s)? Have previous traumatic experiences gotten in the way of you living your happiest life? Maybe you feel stuck or unsure of how to move forward in this crazy political climate or you're turning to substances or behaviors to help soothe your discomfort. Together, we will uncover new ways of thinking, dealing with feelings, and using tools that will help you get your life back. You deserve it. I'd love to help you have the life you want.
My Background and Approach
Working in clinical settings for the past 10 years, I've helped dozens of clients from diverse backgrounds navigate addictions, find balance in their lives, and learn tools to regulate their emotions and find peace in their relationships. I have specific training in Motivational Interviewing, which allows me to assist clients at different stages of changing their behavior, and Emotionally Focused Therapy, which assist individuals and couples with finding emotional safety and being able to communicate their needs in a healthy way. I'm an assistant clinical professor for an online master's program in clinical mental health counseling, and have supervised and guided the incoming generation of therapists for the past 4 years. Whether a student, client, or supervisee, I will help you discover your strengths, areas of growth, and ways to start feeling better now. We will get to the root of where and why you might feel stuck and how to carve a healthier path forward.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
I am a firm believer that everyone has the innate capacity to change the path of their lives for the better. I think that our overly fast-paced world, influx of screen-time, and the disconnection brought about from the COVID-19 pandemic have shaped the way we cope with loneliness and boredom, often not for the better. I've navigated my own journey with addictions, finding meaning in life, and recognizing how to engage in healthier personal relationships. As a member of the LGBTQ+ community, I understand the unique needs that we experience as part of a historically-marginalized population. If that resonates, let's help you find queer joy in the midst of political chaos and trauma. I have actively engaged in advocacy related to trans individuals and creating best practices for recovery from addictions, supportive communities that focus on self-development, and leadership positions in the counseling profession to make sure all voices are heard. No topic is too personal for therapy!
