About My Clients

Clients seek therapy to foster positive change in their lives. I work with individuals with a range of ages and backgrounds to identify their unique set of experiences, strengths, and challenges, and build self-confidence and healthier relationships with themselves, their families, partners, and communities.

My Background and Approach

As a member of the LGBTQ community, an artist, and a therapist, my passion lies at the intersections of identity, art, and psychology. My educational background is rooted in social justice, the arts, and counseling, providing tools to explore unique and creative pathways to greater holistic wellness. I seek to establish safety and trust through a warm, compassionate approach, centering the client’s experience as the primary source of growth. Balancing openness and flow with structure and analysis, I collaborate with clients to deepen self-awareness and self-confidence, identify core beliefs and coping tools, and develop strategies for acceptance as well as self-growth. When using art with clients, I meet clients where they are, supporting the artistic process at any level of confidence and skill. With a background in a variety of mediums and approaches to artmaking, my goal is to help clients more freely access their creativity.

My Personal Beliefs and Interests

I believe we are the result of a complex combination of biological, psychological, and social influences, that we can experience friction between these sometimes-discordant parts, and that this friction can result in distress and dis-ease. Therapy seeks to bring awareness to the sources of these frictions, to identify their influences on us, to give voice to these parts, and to accept and integrate them into a more balanced whole. Through dialogue with a therapist, insights can lead to changes in perspective and behavior, leading to greater well-being. I also believe that art can be a therapeutic tool, and that art and therapy follow a similar process. Art can deepen insight, give form to ideas and experiences outside of language, share those ideas, foster connection, and create change.
