About My Clients
I provide services to youth (5+) and adults who have concerns with anxiety, depression, a history of traumatic events, behavior disorders, and difficulty with family or interpersonal relationships, among other concerns which you may have. I also enjoy working with couples and I am LGBTQ affirming and supportive of those relationships. I will not support any mention or desire of conversion therapy.
My Background and Approach
Having worked in child welfare and children's mental health for many years, I decided to pursue a graduate degree. I graduated with a master's degree in social work from Wichita State University. I am a foster and adoptive parent, which led me to become a Trust Based Relational Intervention® (TBRI®) practitioner. TBRI® is evidenced based and enables caregivers to provide nurturing and attachment-based caregiving to decrease behavior episodes. This method of caregiving was developed for children who had been through a traumatic event; however, it is effective with children who have not faced significant trauma as well. I will provide you with the necessary tools and support to help you obtain your goals and live the life you desire.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
I feel the therapy process is best achieved when there is a strong therapeutic relationship. This includes being genuine and supportive when acting as a guide to achieving your goals and dreams while being a partner of accountability during your journey. I believe connection is the key to all successful relationships and everyone deserves to have a support system available to them. When working with children, I believe it is necessary to involve the family as well, so that all are working toward the same goals. This may include parent coaching, family sessions, or other means as necessary. You and your youth are not alone in this process.
