About My Clients
Do you experience thoughts that come out of nowhere, feel out of character with who you are, and cause feelings of guilt, worry, or discomfort? In response to these thoughts, do you do things to find certainty such as think about things repeatedly, research online for answers, ask others what they think, or avoid things you fear could lead to something bad happening? OCD can be managed successfully using Exposure & Response Prevention therapy (ERP).
My Background and Approach
I use a highly effective, evidence-based treatment for OCD called Exposure & Response Prevention Therapy (ERP). I have extensive experience and quality training in the use of ERP, and I have supported many clients in decreasing their OCD symptoms, improving their quality of life, and learning specific skills to manage uncertainty and anxiety. I received my Bachelor's degree in Psychology (2012) and Master's degree in Counseling (2014) from the University of New Mexico. I am a Licensed Professional Clinical Counselor in NM, CA, NV, & VT. Additionally, I am a National Certified Counselor (NCC) which means I commit to engaging in the highest standards of continuing education and training to keep up-to-date on information in the field of mental health counseling.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
As someone who experiences Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder personally, I have first hand experience with various subtypes as well as understanding of the time and energy consumed by OCD. Additionally, I can attest on a personal and professional level to the effectiveness of Exposure & Response Prevention (ERP) therapy to manage OCD symptoms long term. Although 1 in 100 adults in the USA experience OCD, there is limited understanding and access to quality OCD treatment. As a form of advocacy I seek to bring about understanding, decrease shame, and improve access to quality OCD treatment.
