Using a a social justice framework, I provide holistic and experiential therapy for adults .
Licensed Clinical Social Worker in San Jose, CA
I view the individual as part of a collective whole... part of their family system, social circle, society, planet earth, and the universe. Taking this broad view puts the complexity of each individual in context of larger systems in which we operate. Holistic therapy involves an understanding of nondualism: that all is interconnected. You are your own best healer. My job is to support you in honoring and becoming familiar with your most authentic self.
Anxiety affects both the body and the mind...such that even when opportunities for rest present themselves, you may struggle to actually reach a state of ease (the body may experience hypervigilence or be on edge). My approach with anxiety largely revolves around re-establishing and honoring the communication that you receive from your body, and grounding into the dependable care of the present moment.
Whether a loss is expected or unexpected, there is often no easy way to cope with the changes and challenges that ensue, whether from loss of a loved one, a pet, a relationship, or systemic challenges to be mourned such as climate change or a pandemic. It can be helpful to explore unfinished processes and identify one's own needs that become clearer in the experience of grief or loss. There is no way out, there is only a way through.
An essential part of building a more humane and loving world is honoring our sensitivity. The gift of sensitivity is essential for the survival of humankind. Remembering, honoring, and trusting ones' traits can lead to not only greater ease but also greater pleasure and aliveness. Your sensitivity is needed, even if it hasn't always felt welcomed.
