About My Clients
I consider myself to be a body inclusive therapist who specializes in helping clients recover from disordered eating behaviors, weight stigma, body image concerns and impacts from diet culture. I also serve clients experiencing depression and anxiety symptoms, family issues (such as divorce & addiction), adjustment issues and trauma. I am neurodivergent, LGBTQIA+ & BIPOC affirming and knowledgeable. I also offer A Fat Positive Therapy Group, see my website for more details and to sign up.
My Background and Approach
I obtained my Master of Science degree from Portland State University, specializing in Clinical Mental Health Counseling. I am a Nationally Board Certified Counselor and a Licensed Professional Counselor with the State of Oregon. I hold the belief that in order to strengthen our relationships with others, we must first strengthen our relationship with ourselves. By exploring your life story up until this point as well as examining the messages you tell yourself about yourself we can begin the work of collectively re-rewriting your personal narratives.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
My goal as a professional counselor is to provide both equitable and inclusive services to each of my clients. I prioritize acknowledging and respecting each client’s held identities and I continue to educate myself in order to maintain a sufficient level of multicultural understanding. I hold the belief that we all are the experts on our own lives and believe that the change process is something we both go through together. I trust that the continual examination of the power dynamics in our relationship is necessary to sustain equity and I invite my clients to inquire upon any and all therapeutic interventions and plans for treatment as we move forward together. As a white, currently able bodied, cisgender female I am committed to owning and acknowledging my privileges and am passionate about dismantling white supremacy in both my personal and professional life.
