Anxiety is like, the worst feeling ever. And sometimes it can seem to take hold for no reason – causing you ruminations, worry, panic and intense fear. I bet it's starting to get in the way of your work, your relationships and definitely your inner peace. The good news is, anxiety is totally treatable. There are lots of things you can start implementing right away that will help you feel more calm and grounded. In the mean time, you can start exploring what's causing the anxiety to begin with.

I've always felt that Western psychology explained how the brain worked and how trauma, loss and our early relationships greatly influence our current lives. But it seemed to be missing a few key ingredients for healing – such as connecting to one's spirituality, understanding the impacts of diet and exercise on mental health and attending to the physical experience of the body. That's why it only seemed natural for me to integrate these aspects of total health into my therapy practice.

Mindfulness, in short, is the practice of bringing a non-judgmental awareness to the present moment. This meditative tradition stems from Buddhism and was brought to the West by Zen teachers Philip Kapleau and Thich Nhat Hanh. Jon Kabat-Zinn, a student of Kapleu’s, was the first to scientifically study and prove the myriad health benefits of mindfulness. Kabat-Zinn is often credited for secularizing the practices and making them more accessible for Westerners.

Your mind goes non-stop even when you try to rest or sleep. Your palms get sweaty and your heart starts to race whenever you're on the spot at work. And no matter what you tell yourself, you can't seem to quell the nerves. You know that there must be a way to heal from the anxiety, if you could just have the supportive environment and the right tools to put into practice. This is where holistic therapy comes in. I've helped many like you once and for all find relief from anxiety.

Is your sense of self-worth tied up in your accomplishments and how others view you? Do you have a harsh inner critic who points out every mistake you make? Do you feel worthless when you take a day to rest? You may be struggling with self-esteem issues. Healthy self-worth is stable and not tied to external circumstances or others' opinions. In our work, you'll begin to practice unconditional self-love and reduce your dependence on praise from those around you. Self-love is possible.

Do your needs always come last? Do you feel intense guilt when saying "no" to others? Have you found yourself feeling resentful to your friends and family for asking too much of you? If so, you may be dealing with codependency and people-pleasing issues. The good news is these are learned behaviors and can also be un-learned. Therapy tools such as identifying your own needs and setting boundaries make a world of difference. I can help you recover from codependency and put yourself first.

Over time, you'll be more in tune with your emotions and body experience not only in sessions but in your daily life, as well.
