About My Clients
Though I enjoy working with clients of all ages, my focus has primarily been on children and adolescents who have suffered from significant trauma. Trauma can wear many faces: hyper-vigilance, suicidal ideation, depression, the overall lack of control. My passion is to guide the client through crisis by finding their strength and control amidst the chaos. Though traumatic symptoms have a common appearance, every person's experience is unique. I endeavor to create the safe space particular to you
My Background and Approach
As a licensed therapist, I counsel clients through crisis utilizing extensive training, learned skills, and effective therapeutic techniques through evidence based modalities, such as CBT/TF-CBT and CFTSI. I am passionate about victim advocacy and guiding clients through trauma and struggle. At the heart of this is the loss of control and the inability to cope. Trauma can wear many faces and lead to various concerns: suicidal ideation, hyper vigilance, depressiveness, anxiety, avoidance. And yet, every person is unique and therefore experiences it differently. I endeavor to create the safe space that works best for you and helps you to attain a sense of peace and control- opening the path to healing. I work with you to create coping mechanisms that tackle each significant symptom based on your strengths. I provide you with the skills necessary so that, regardless of the next obstacle in life, you can tackle them with confidence and preparedness.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
The difficulty of change lies within the limits of our self-awareness and motivation to change. We cannot control what others do or say, but we can control how we respond and move forward. As a person who is uniquely and personally connected to trauma, I work to live this lesson everyday. No person is perfect and no path of healing is linear. The measure of our success comes from the consistent effort that we put forth despite the struggle. The techniques that I teach within sessions are techniques that I use for self-care and staying grounded. I truly appreciate my role as a therapist because of what I have learned of myself, and the ability to connect with my spirituality despite the darkness I have witnessed and experienced. From my role on the Suicide Prevention Line to working with abused children at the Child Advocacy Center, I am grateful for the ability to help those that need it most. I am grateful to have the opportunity to guide those through the darkness they experience.
