About My Clients
Whether you are new to therapy or returning with a partner, finding someone who understands and cares for us is hard. Each person has their own story and all of us have different reasons for seeking out help. I believe therapy is a safe place to share our stories, learn who we are, and develop effective skills to improve our lives and relationships. Our sessions are a place to share and do the work in a nonjudgemental, empathetic, welcoming, and safe environment.
My Background and Approach
In therapy, I emphasize creating a safe environment for all parties involved. I believe that patience and trust are essential for healing, and through the therapeutic relationship clients can explore their inner selves and develop deeper understanding and intimacy. In treatment, utilize various theories, such as trauma-based and attachment theories, to inform a personalized therapeutic approach for each client. I have experience with CBT, DBT, and somatic and body-focused practices, and have worked with individuals dealing with anxiety, depression, bipolar disorder, life transitions, and relationship issues. Prior to joining Khan Counseling Psychotherapy, I trained at a NYC hospital in the psychiatric unit and worked with a multidisciplinary team. I've also worked with career coaches and helped professionals find passion and motivation in the workplace.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
As a current doctorate student, I am investigating how macro influences impact our mental health and practice with a social justice orientation. This lens enables us to unpack how both our individual lives and larger systems can influence our daily lives, contribute to experiences of oppression, trauma, and ultimately affect our mental health.
