My passion in the field lies with childhood traumatic experiences and how these take a physical toll on our bodies. Trauma can place heavy burden on the unconscious parts of our mind and manifest as physical sensations, certain thought patterns/habits, and self-fulfilling prophecies. Thus, it is important to call attention to these details of our lives, as they make profound differences in personal mental health. They also have a cyclical relationship in disadvantaged populations, leading to over-incarceration; medical neglect; stereotyping; prejudice; and discrimination. I believe that exploring such topics are imperative to understanding current engagement with one's life and how to move forward alongside them.

I believe everyone inherently possesses the strengths and tools they need to overcome the challenges in their lives. Everyone develops effective coping skills for the situations in their lives, however, maybe those ways of coping are no longer serving you/are no longer beneficial. Because of this, it is important to not pathologize those habits, but instead use them to gain insight and meaning in one's life, as well as provide guidance in developing new ones! Additionally, at my practice, we strongly believe in advocating for our clients; ignoring the socio-political climate and it's impacts on client's mental health is irresponsible. Contributing to causes that help alleviate this stress for clients is a major part of what I do!
