About My Clients
Coming to therapy can be nerve wracking, my goal as your counselor is to create a safe and non-judgmental environment to support you in your therapy goals. I have a passion for working with clients of diverse backgrounds such as sexual, gender, and ethnic minorities. I have experience working with mental health diagnoses including anxiety, depression, OCD, PTSD, and other mental health disorders.
My Background and Approach
I received my masters degree in counseling psychology at Ball State University with a concentration in rehabilitation counseling. I utilize interpersonal psychotherapy and cognitive-behavioral therapy to help guide clients in reaching their treatment goals. I emphasize open communication, setting healthy boundaries, and confidence building. I take an eclectic approach to help support unique client needs. I am trauma and culturally informed. I particularly enjoy working with clients experiencing obsessive-compulsive disorder. I utilize exposure and response prevention tools to help manage symptoms of OCD. I focus on self-acceptance to guide clients in building self-esteem and coping with perfectionism.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
As a counselor with multiple minority identities, I understand the complexities of intersectionality and how these play out in treatment. As your counselor, I will take intentional time to understand your world view and lens. I believe one of the most important parts of therapy is to create a strong therapeutic relationship in order to build trust, cultivate openness, and support vulnerability in session. I would describe myself as a "chill" therapist that knows how to use humor and light-heartedness as a way to connect while still maintaining professionalism.
