About My Clients
Many of my clients are dealing with trauma. Some of them experienced what we might call a capital "T" trauma event—a significant, specific event that caused serious harm to themselves or to someone close to them. Others experienced lower case "t" trauma events—smaller, painful incidences that repeated and stacked up over time. Regardless the size, the impact is often the same: decreased feelings of worth, safety, and trust. I help clients heal from their trauma and restore their sense of self.
My Background and Approach
I've been working as a mental health therapist for over twelve years. I started in a clinic setting, gaining experience with depression, anxiety, and general life stressors. It was there I started my specialization in trauma therapy, learning the TREM, TF-CBT, and CPT models of therapy for PTSD, which I still use today.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
I believe that everyone is the expert in their own lives. As such, my style of therapy is often described as warm and affirming. I also believe that everyone is capable of growth, so I provide direct feedback to clients and challenge the thoughts and patterns that are rooted in trauma, depression or anxiety.
