About My Clients
My passion is helping highly motivated women overcome feelings of anxiety and build confidence. There is no one size fits all style in therapy. I create a safe space for you to tell your story as we develop a plan together that is unique to you to meet your goals. By being present and genuine, my clients have found me to be relatable and easy to talk to.
My Background and Approach
My experience and passion developed from an early academic interest in women’s issues. To gain a holistic picture, I have worked in various settings including community-based therapy with families, clinical inpatient and with the geriatric population - which I must say was the most valuable in learning about perspectives of those nearing death and what they wish they knew or did differently when they were younger. These experiences have grown into a professional passion for applying this knowledge to support women and girls as they journey through various life stages and circumstances. I meet you where you are (focusing on the emotional, cognitive, and physiological factors impacting your experiences). One of my favorite methods is Solution Focused Therapy. I want to learn about how you see your life if your current circumstances where different. We then do the work in-between to get you to that vision.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
A tad bit about me; I earned my Bachelor of Science in Social Work from Western Carolina University and my Master of Social Work from North Carolina Central University. I grew up in the Bull City and I was born in Zimbabwe. My culture is very important to me. In my early years of practice, I enjoyed working with children and youth. I worked several summers at the Boys and Girls Club and Upward Bound Math and Science Camp. I also worked in community based behavioral health with children and families in their homes. I believe in giving our all to children while we have an impact on their lives. In this work, I often learned the needs of their parents and how a stable, healthy and well adjusted parent can be the best parent. From there I further cemented my passion for working with women who are highly motivated in all areas whether children are involved or not.
