About My Clients
I love supporting women and LGBTQ+ individuals who’ve survived mistreatment or abuse and are ready to reconnect with their inner strength. My work focuses on rebuilding trust in your instincts, nurturing self-compassion, and remembering you’re not alone. As an immigrant woman, I know healing can feel complex when you’ve had to adapt to many worlds. Together we create a safe space to tend to old wounds with curiosity, kindness, and renewed self-love. Early am, evening, and Sat sessions available.
My Background and Approach
I grew up in Peru, I am bilingual (Spanish/English), and I bring to you my over ten years of experience working in community mental health agencies and my own private practice. Throughout my time as a counselor I have had the honor of getting to know and helping people from many different cultural and ethnic backgrounds, which earned me the designation of Ethnic Minority Mental Health Specialist. I spent almost three years working almost exclusively with the Latinx population, which put me in touch with the cultural shock many people experience during international moves, and to which I, as an immigrant, can definitely relate. I also have extensive experience working with survivors of abuse. My approach is existential, multicultural, phenomenological, relational. I have received training in feminist psychotherapy and women's issues. I am also very interested in mindfulness and its immense healing benefits, which led me to recently become a Certified Mindfulness Informed Professional.
Why I am a Good Fit for You
I am the ideal therapist for you if you are looking for warmth and also directness. If you are ready for and looking to make a change. I believe every human being is unique, and I will sit with you each session bringing profound curiosity about you, your history, and your choices. I also believe you are the expert in your own life. I enjoy helping people navigating all kinds of transitions, and those who may not be sure of what their next step is. People hoping to find a romantic partner, going through divorce, making a big move, changing careers... I believe that moments of uncertainty can give us great opportunities to learn how strong we are and to help us grow and get to places we did not think possible before. I know that is what happened to me, what made me want to become a counselor, and what I am excited to bring to you. I also believe in the healing power of love, and I am a huge dog lover. If you are lucky, my sweet chocolate Labrador may make an appearance during our sessions.
