About My Clients
I work with individuals who struggle with intense emotional responses, relationship issues, and trauma. I also work with individuals who identify as an Adult Children of Emotionally Immature or Narcissistic Parents and are in recovery from emotional abuse. Clients I see tend to feel like they are on an emotional rollercoaster, struggle to set boundaries, feel anxious and/or depressed, and struggle with guilt or shame due to relationship issues, trauma or low self esteem.
My Background and Approach
My main focus in therapy is on DBT and EMDR. DBT assists with mood dysregulation by helping you learn to tolerate difficult emotions while gaining coping skills related to mindfulness, emotion regulation, distress tolerance and interpersonal effectiveness. EMDR is effective in the treatment of trauma and PTSD. I follow a trauma recovery model that outlines three stages of recovery: 1. Safety and Stability - Develop a treatment plan that focuses on regaining stability by understanding ones emotions and identifying healthy coping skills to help express them in a effective way. 2. Remembrance and Mourning -In this stage, we work together to help you tell your story in order to process trauma and grieve the effects it has had on your life. 3. Integration and Reconnection - Once you find yourself in a place where you trauma no longer defines you, but is an integrated part of your life, we explore what is means to live life in the present and build your sense of self.
