About My Clients
I am passionate about working with individuals who are struggling with anxiety, depression, relationship issues, attachment strains, and trauma. I specialize in work involving families and children. Nevertheless, I am also excited about connecting with individuals and couples as well. Our therapeutic relationship is bidirectional; we learn from each other and grow from our work together. Sessions may not always be pretty, or perfect, but they will be honest.
My Background and Approach
Originating from North Carolina, I grew up witnessing the importance of community. Along my journey, I've embodied the belief that we can only meet others as deeply as we've met ourselves. I earned my Bachelor of Science in Psychology, with a minor in Child and Family Development, from the University of North Carolina Charlotte. I earned my Master of Arts in Clinical Psychology, with an emphasis of Marriage and Family Therapy, from Pepperdine University. When someone seeks therapy, they are looking to feel seen, understood, and heard. Through our relationship, we will nurture the parts of ourselves that feel neglected. I approach therapy with curiosity, appreciation, and humility. I use a holistic approach, considering a person's mind, body, and spirit. Based upon each person's individual needs, I integrate a mixture of modalities such as Person Centered Therapy, Cognitive - Based Therapy, Attachment Based Therapy, Solutions - Focused Therapy, and Family Systems Therapy.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
The relationship we have with ourselves is the foundation for all other aspects of our lives. It impacts who we are, and how we show up in the world. Connecting with ourselves, intimately, honestly, and holistically, strengthens our communities. It allows us to foster enriching lives with people who love us unconditionally (including ourselves). Inspired by Toni Morrison, I believe that the way we show up in the world is dependent upon who we are and how we love ourselves. Our pain, fears, experiences, and desires directly influence how we love and honor ourselves. That relationship impacts the rest of our lives. I have a plethora of personal interests that may support our work together. I love music, and find it therapeutic. I enjoy yoga, mindful meditation, and discussing astrology. I am an avid reader, and may occasionally suggest books. I am a writer, and believe in the importance of journaling. Lastly, I am a dancer, and welcome dancing in any sessions.
