My Background and Approach
I've worked in public mental health for over 25 years and believe that recovery is a journey and not a destination. I've seen the damage that occurs when people are defined by diagnoses, labels, and the mistakes they've made in life. I use an eclectic approach including CBT and Solution Focused Brief Therapy to reframe your experiences so you can use them as springboards to move forward to something better in life. Perspective is 9/10 of the battle; if you expect to fail, you will. If you can imagine a different outcome, you're more likely to achieve it. Having majored in Christian Counseling in undergrad and grad school, I am a Pastoral Counselor and a Certified Advanced Christian Life Coach, as well as an ordained Minister. My goal is not to preach, but to help you come to terms with your own faith, whatever it may be and walk it out. I've worked with people from all walks of life and from all faith backgrounds. If anything, I'm here to preach wellness and wholeness.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
As a pastoral counselor, it gives me comfort to know that God used the most broken vessels to gain the most glory; He even used a donkey once. I believe our trials and brokenness can lead to our greatest triumphs and I'd like to help you realize yours. So it doesn’t matter if you’ve been living under the shadow of depression, substance-abuse, or failed relationships; the rest of your journey can be filled with courage and success as you face those challenges head-on. Most of us are experts on what doesn’t work, let’s work on turning your failures into fuel and moving forward. Serving clients anywhere in North Carolina and Virginia virtually.
