About My Clients
I am only offering assessments in CT at this time. I am an experienced supervisor and manage a testing department of trainees at a community health clinic. I conduct client-centered assessments examining intellectual skills, attention/executive functioning, social and emotional abilities that can identify diagnostic criteria (autism, ADHD, personality, etc.) and strategies to live a full life within neurdivergence. I work in the Hamden area but can make arrangements for meeting up to 1 hour away
My Background and Approach
I am strongly rooted in psychodynamic and attachment frames. As a therapist, I've historically focused on intergenerational family trauma and ADHD parenting. Currently, my full-time position is at a community mental health organization where I manage a psychological evaluation team of clinicians and interns. My private services are therefore limited at this time: I offer psychological testing privately, without insurance, once a month. Part of these services can be virtual, and part of the assessment service will be in small offices or private meeting rooms in Southern Connecticut. I specialize in neurodivergent testing, which can include questions and clarification of previous testing or diagnoses. I focus on client-centered testing services with reports that are clear and supportive of your goals through personalized recommendations. Please write me about your needs, schedule, and we can see if I can contribute to your mental-wellness goals!
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
I am a later-life-ADHD diagnosed queer lady with a sense of humor and drive for research. I firmly believe in cultivating our own "gut instinct" to find our values and make choices to step into our comfort zone, in supervision and with clients. I focus on validating people's experiences and providing psychoeducation to increase their self-awareness and self-acceptance. This includes considering social and cultural factors, which involves affirming the cultural hardships my clients describe and recognizing my own privileges (White, cis, heteronormativity) to keep them in check. I also explore these dynamics within my supervision services, referencing identity development models and examining the power differentials within my supervision relationships. As a supervisor, I examine attachment dynamics and relational concepts such as countertransference. My belief is that relationships are built on first cultivating compassion for our selves.
