Hi! My name is Morgan and I am a holistic psychotherapist who believes true healing must address one's mind, body, and spirit.
Counselor in Alpharetta, GA
Trauma not only changes our mentality, but it changes our body and soul. We carry the scars from our past experiences and at times, it can be difficult to know how to integrate and move forward. My sessions not only focus on talking about experiences but also becoming more aware of how our body carries our past experiences. Sessions will focus on learning effective self-soothing skills that connect your mind-body-soul and on how you can lead a fulfilling life despite having experienced trauma.
Utilizing traditional talk therapy, and more alternative approaches like meditation, therapeutic movement, guided visualizations, and breathwork, our sessions will focus on how depression impacts your mind, body and soul. We will focus on internal beliefs and experiences that fuel the depressive symptoms and how we can unlearn unhealthy thought patterns and behaviors. My approach will guide you to recognize your unique strengths, inherent worth, and inner joy.
We have anxiety for a reason: it helps protect us. However, sometimes our brain reads situations as life or death, signaling our fight or flight response, when the situation may not warrant that. So how do we get ahold of this? I specialize in the utilization of mind-body practices that help you tap into a part of you that is calm, wise, and present. With practice, you will feel more in control of your anxiety rather than feeling like it's controlling you.
When we experience low self-esteem, our perceptual field may feel so narrow that positive thoughts about ourselves seem out of reach. I specialize in the utilization of compassionate practices that help re-mold this narrative and support you in building a more loving, kind, and gentle approach to to yourself.
I am an EMDR-trained clinician and have utilized this approach with many clients who are struggling with debilitating anxiety resulting from traumatic experiences. EMDR not only strengthens your ability to self-soothe, but also reprocesses past experiences in a healthier way, leading to less distressing symptoms.
I believe that true healing requires attending to one's mental, physical, and spiritual needs. I utilize an approach that incorporates both traditional and alternative approaches to more comprehensively support you in your healing process.
I am certified in Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction and I am a registered yoga teacher (RYT-200). From my education and my lived experience of having a daily meditative practice, I believe in the profound impact mindfulness-based practices and Buddhist psychology can have on our psyche. When we are more present with ourselves, we are more present with others and our environment, leading to mutually beneficial interactions.
I utilize parts-work to help clients explore their inner world in a compassionate, understanding, and nonjudgmental way.
