In attachemtn theory we look at how your upbringing and your attachment to your primary care givers (usually our parents) carries over into our adult life and influences how we have adult relationships with (primarily) adult partners.
Generally a good form of therapy for those struggling with intrusive thoughts, OCD or even trauma. As humans we are pain adverse. We just are. But with ACT we learn to look and feel the pain without trying to make it better or different in the moment. Over time we have a corrective experience, and realize that the thing or feeling we were avoiding does not have the power or hold over us that we were fearing.
Within us all we have parts. Parts that are angry, parts that are sad, parts that are grateful, parts that are confused etc. We shine light on all these parts and give them room to be expressed, shared, and validated. Through this process, we can attend and heal all these splintered parts, and help bring about a more peaceful, and integrated cohesion within our soul.
