About My Clients
I have worked successfully with a wide variety of clients in the past, but I particularly enjoy working with parents who are also adult children of alcoholics, addicts, or otherwise dysfunctional families, as well as adults with childhood trauma suffering from anxiety/low self-esteem. I also enjoy working with adults processing recent ADHD diagnosis and how it relates to their sense of identity.
My Background and Approach
I have a psychodynamically-oriented training and approach to therapy. This means I approach therapy by considering you as a whole person, including what you have been through in the past and your primary relationships in childhood. I also heavily value a trauma-informed approach and utilizing techniques that are intentional in trying to help you heal rather than just re-live your trauma. I have EMDR training for a more specific trauma approach. I also pull from Internal Family Systems theory and utilize "parts work" or "inner child work" when appropriate.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
I believe you are the expert in you. I also strongly support social justice in all forms and value examining how oppressive systems have contributed to client problems as well as examining my own social privilege and position both inside and out of the therapy space.
