My ideal client brings all their anxiety and worries to session so we can piece them apart and gain a better understanding of patterns and behaviors that can be improved. I love processing with clients, and rarely give homework. Let's make the most of our time together in session!
My Background and Approach
Helping people feel comfortable with themselves & their sexual identity is something I strive for in my practice. But don't worry--we don't have to talk sex if that's not what you're looking for. It's about what you need and want from our therapeutic relationship! I utilize Carl Roger’s Person-Centered approach in counseling session which relies on a concept known as Unconditional Positive Regard— acceptance and support of a person regardless of what the person says or does. Emphasis in session is placed on creating a non-judgmental atmosphere that cultivates vulnerability and reflection.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
As a founding member of my local LGBT advocacy group I take great pleasure in serving the LGBT population. I have managed to accrue over 170 continuing education hours dedicated to sex education so that I may serve my clients to the fullest when discussing their presenting concerns. My undergrad is in Sociology and I enjoy working from a framework that considers all stressors and influences. Sometimes it's more than just reframing thoughts--it's about contextualizing lived experiences.
