About My Clients
My clients are individuals who want to both learn practical coping skills as well as gently explore the deeper roots of their symptoms. I work with a wide range of concerns, including trauma, anxiety, depression, life changes, grief, and other concerns. My clients are often new to therapy and are unsure of what the therapeutic process is like. I also am an LGBTQIA+ ally and work closely with my supervisors who also provide gender affirming care.
My Background and Approach
I believe that my clients are the experts in their lives. I may have the fancy degree, but that doesn't mean I will know ultimately know what is best for you. I treat therapy like we're in a car ride, where you are the driver and I'm the passenger making suggestions about what to explore, but you get to decide what your journey looks like. I also draw from modalities such as CBT, DBT, and mindfulness skills for when clients are looking for concrete tools to help with symptoms. I love providing psychoeducation on trauma and other topics to help clients learn more about themselves and make informed decisions. I believe that building trust with my clients is an important tool for facilitating their healing.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
Our mental health concerns do not occur in a vacuum, and understanding the role of social justice is an important part of being a therapist. Even if we never talk about it, I am always considering the context that my clients live in and how their personal identity affects their life, and how my identity or privilege may affect theirs.
